Longing...

Time and again you may wake up with a longing in your heart that you can’t explain. Sometimes the longing (a yearning desire) is over a period of time. Other times, you are in such a state of longing because you desire a miracle, or breakthrough and you’re at a loss for words. Speechless. Maybe even deflated. What can fulfill that longing in your heart and life that never disappoints or goes away? What can show you how to keep moving forward even when you haven’t gotten/received/achieved what you’re longing for?

I woke up this morning with an overwhelming sense of longing and love for Jesus. I wanted to shout it out loud to the world, then I thought of my neighbors since it’s very early on a Saturday morning. I wanted to post it on Facebook to make it known that I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Romans 1:16) … and then I thought, what better way than to be more reflective and write it as my blog entry for this morning.

There are several physical/emotional things, miracles, opportunities I am longing for, but as I wait, the overwhelming love I have for Jesus today is reminding me of the peace I can have as I wait on Him to fulfill those desires. God’s Word says: “Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.” (Psalm 37:4-6). I love that reminder and promise!!!

So, whatever you are longing for today, if it is in the will of the One who created you, God will fulfill it in His time, which is never too late, as you continue to diligently seek Him. ALWAYS remember that: “For the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” (Psalm 84:11)

Keep your eyes on Him and bring all your longings to His throne of grace, boldly, because He loves you! God loves to spend time with you and hear your heart. Let your longings be known to Him--always!
