Rejuvenated!

What a feeling!!! I'm so excited... just had to share with you! Rejuvenate: to restore to a former state; make fresh or new again. That’s what this past Thursday morning was for me. Kinda like a reset! The last day of January 2019 and the close of the best month in my life--my birthday month! Anyway, I attended a workshop entitled: “Mapping your leadership journey” and had the opportunity to remind myself of my personal mission. TO ENCOURAGE, EQUIP AND EMPOWER OTHERS TO MAXIMIZE THEIR POTENTIAL. What a joy that is for me to live this out. I’m thankful I get to do that for others.

This morning, I was thinking about my vision… I have a mission… but what is my vision? Can a vision be one word? Well… here goes, my personal vision: TO BE TRANSFORMATIONAL. There could be more to this... but I just decided to focus on the one word. Transformational: the act or process of transforming; Transformational: (adjective) also transformative: able to produce a big change or improvement in a situation. Imagine me!!! Being transformational and inspiring others to be transformed. When I achieve my mission, I fulfill my vision :). Any opportunity I get to do that my heart is ecstatic.

Here's an example: This week I was given the challenge (an urgent cry for help) to help a college student find a place to live for the semester, and as a CONNECTOR, I was able, by the grace and provision of God, to find a place. That student’s life has been transformed—she is encouraged, equipped and empowered to maximize her potential as a social worker because she doesn’t have to worry about where she will lay her head for the semester. Mission and vision accomplished, and God be glorified! My story is that I am a connector which is how I live out my mission and vision. What's your story?

So… today, I ask you… what is your mission? Can you make it is as simple as selecting 3 action words and a goal? Or maybe a sentence of no more than 12 words? Whatever way you decide to come up with your mission, just OWN IT! It’s yours to live out. Then think about your vision. Could it be one word or a sentence? Make it your OWN and just LIVE IT! Don’t belabor the process by thinking too much about it… take some quiet time to reflect on your life and let it flow. It may take a few hours, maybe some days or even weeks… it may change as you realize more about who you are and what you desire in life. Just be intentional. Once you have it… there’s no stopping you! You will be UNSTOPPABLE because you will be focused.

PS: I am reminded that having a mission, writing goals with actions and timelines make a difference—it helps you be focused. As part of that leadership workshop, I also had to write down my goals with action words and a timeline—so I picked July 31st. To get me going. I’m already on a move! I’ll reassess at the end of 6 months and check myself :). It may not be a perfect journey in the eyes of others, but it will be a transformational process for me! Others will be inspired. What will your journey be like? I encourage you to go forth and put words into action.
