How often do you hear the question, "Is the glass half full or half empty?" How often do you ask that question? Or even thing about it, if at all? OR even the whole concept about how you perceive, react/respond to things and situations in life? Everyday? I often say, the glass is always half full. The other day I asked a friend and her response was: "It depends, right now, it's half empty... but many times it's half full." My response was, "Well, the glass should always be half full no matter what."
Then came today... I woke up... thinking... As I reflect on that more and more, I wonder if that attitude or perspective is just being overly positive or being intentionally hopeful and optimistic so that you have a great outlook on life. To get up with a good attitude daily certainly makes a difference. This morning, I realized one sad thing about all of this. I'm a firm believer that the glass is always half full but lately... it seems that my complaints have been focusing on what's missing, so essentially I've been seeing and acting as if the glass is half empty. Thank goodness I came to!!! (It's great when you come to your senses! LOL)
So I said to myself: STOP. RE-CALIBRATE. REFILL and RE-TUNE my mind. I had to check myself this morning and remember what it really means! Glass half full is all about being grateful for what's there and not stressing or focusing on what's missing in your life or situation. Life is worth living and there are so many beautiful things, even when things don't go the way you planned or hoped for. The glass is always half full! That's a great perspective to have with a positive mindset to take you through the challenges of life. Be grateful more each and every day. I will too!
PS: I looked up the expression meaning just for fun in case you need some clarification :): "Is the glass half empty or half full?" is a common expression, a proverbial phrase, generally used rhetorically to indicate that a particular situation could be a cause for optimism (half full) or pessimism (half empty), or as a general litmus test to simply determine an individual's worldview."
Think about your outlook on life :) What's your attitude when you wake up? How will you CHOOSE to live today?
Colossians 3:15-17 "And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."
Ephesians 5:20 "giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,"
