In tune? In Sync?

Have you ever been in (or out of) tune or sync with anyone or anything? To be in tune with someone/something meaning means: “having a good understanding of someone or something.” To be in (or out of) sync means “working well (or badly) together; in (or out of) agreement.” Being in sync is “being in order; in harmony; synchronized; without jar or clash.”

What happens when you are in tune/sync with life and those around you? I can only imagine that things will be going well; things are happening when they should. You feel good and grateful for your life and the simple things that you would sometimes take for granted but over time have learned to appreciate. When you’re in sync, there are so many special moments that happen, some even take you by surprise. It’s great to be in sync because it feels right and sometimes you feel like there isn’t a care in the world as things fall into place… as they should, and for the most part, when they should. Your physical and emotional health also benefits when you are in sync.

Then as life would have it… the roller coaster that it can be… unpredictable, you may find yourself out of tune/sync with something or someone. This could be your spouse, child, sibling, friend(s), co-worker, job, any organization or even your health. Whenever any of these fall out of sync, effort is required to bring back some synchronization. It takes willingness, humility, grace and the right attitude. What happens when you’re out of tune/sync? When you just feel like life is “urgh” (expression of annoyance, displeasure). Everything seems to be wrong--(or maybe most things). You may complain a lot. Find fault easily and blame others (or sometimes yourself) for things being out of tune/sync. You may find yourself angry, bitter or even sad.

GUESS WHAT??? You don’t have to stay out of tune/sync. You can change things. There is a way (process) to get back in sync, one step at a time. First, admit and face the reality of what state you’re in. Second, write down what you are out of sync with and the steps you can make to synchronize things. Finally, DO IT. Intentions won’t bring you back in sync. Hoping and dreaming about it won’t help either if you don’t follow through with the necessary action to get back in sync. Actions and a positive attitude will. And if you walk your journey with Jesus, He's always there to help you get back in sync. Be in sync with HIM at all times... no matter what!

So, think about where you are today. How is your life going? All areas of your life. Are you in or out of tune/sync? If you’re in sync, celebrate. If you’re out of sync, restore. Remember… you may be in sync in some areas of your life and out of sync in others. What if you brought harmony in your life and eliminated things that take you out of sync more often than not? Be in tune! Be in sync! After all, you only have the one life to live!
