Once in a while, time and again, it's good to 'give' a hand, and also be open to 'receive' a hand from someone. How many times have you wished if only someone could have helped me and given me a hand to do this or that? How many opportunities have you had to be a blessing to someone by simply giving them a hand in doing something that you clearly saw the need--and didn't wait to be asked? We all need a hand sometimes.
I love the story of Peter and John in Acts 3 when they arrived at the gate called Beautiful. There was a lame man (beggar) who wanted a handout of something (alms) but Peter gave him more than what this man wanted! Peter gave this man what he really needed at that moment in time. Timing and positioning is very important... remember. "Then Peter said, 'Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.' And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God." Acts 3:6-8 You have something to give... a hand! You could use a hand :)
This man received a hand that changed his life forever! What a cause for celebration, for the man who was made well, for Peter and John to give thanks, and the people that knew this man and had passed him so many times at the gate called Beautiful. As you go forth in your life, always be aware what a difference giving and receiving a hand can be... and how it can literally transform a life forever. Don't be afraid to give a hand or too proud to receive a hand. Embrace the ministry of help... whether you are giving it or receiving it.
Give (lend) a hand! Receive a hand! Be blessed always :)
