It's easy to stop caring when you feel hurt, taken for granted, or just downright frustrated! But what good will that do for you and the people around you? If anything, no matter the storm... caring will keep you going. Caring means: "displaying kindness and concern for others." Also, "to feel interest in something; to be interested in or concerned about something; to feel affection for someone; to want to do something or to be something." It's not hard to care... but it takes everything you have to not care because you battle with so much turmoil in justifying why you shouldn't care. Let life, love and caring flow through you.
Today is a new day. There may be things you have decided that you just don't want to care about anymore... was that a wise decision to make? Don't get me wrong, I am not talking about not caring about what people think about you... I'm talking about not caring about the real issues in your life and the community to live in... things that you know you not only have a responsibility but a duty of care. You don't have to do it, but it makes you who you are and you are part of a family, community, team that needs you to be caring for there to be success and harmony. When you stop caring, it brings disruption, not only to you, but to those that are affected, even if you don't intentionally mean to affect them.
Think about how the past week has been. What instances or opportunities have you had to make a choice to care or not care? What was the outcome of the choices that you made? What would have been the outcome if you had made a different choice? The Word of God says: "Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others." (Philippians 2:4)
In another place in the Bible we are all encouraged to be caring and responsible: James 1:27, "Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." What will you choose to do today? To be caring... in spite of? Caring is not just about words... Caring is about the actions you take... Be intentional and practical with your caring today :)
