Honesty...

Another time of self-reflection. What have you been telling yourself lately? Think about it... What did you say about YOU to YOU last week, yesterday, this morning? Are you being too hard on yourself again and NOT giving yourself grace to be you? Honesty with yourself is essential for a sane mind. Know who you are!!! You are an amazing creation here on earth and you are here for a purpose that only you can fulfill. There is no other YOU... but you know this already... this is just a gentle reminder in case situations and circumstances have blurred that in some way. Being honest with yourself is not about only focusing on what you CAN'T DO but WHO you are and what you CAN DO... Anything you can't do is only an opportunity for learning and growth if that (thing) is important for your ultimate purpose in life. If what you say you can't do isn't essential, why stress over it at all.. in the first place?

Remember, you are not... (fill in the blank with every negative statement or thought you've had) because YOU ARE NOT ALL THOSE THINGS!!!! Instead, be honest with yourself and remind YOURSELF that YOU are HUMAN! Not superhuman by any means, and therefore, not perfect. Never put an expectation on yourself to be perfect because you will undoubtedly fall short... Perfection is for JESUS only :) You are YOU each day by His grace and you strive to be the best YOU that HE created you to be!

Remember that you are LOVED and embrace that gift. It's a gift to be LOVED - and it's very important to truly LOVE YOURSELF and therefore, be honest with yourself always. After all people often say: 'Honesty is the best policy.' - Benjamin Franklin. That includes honesty with thyself :). BE TRUE TO YOU! Then you can be true and honest with others. Whatever changes you want to make in your life, it takes being honest with yourself to know where you are and where you want to go, what you want to achieve.

Honesty breeds TRUST. Trust nurtures HONESTY. Find the safe places and relationships that you can be vulnerable and honest. Be wise about sharing yourself, not everyone needs to know your business! Even the Bible encourages discretion... so be wise! "When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you," (Proverbs 2:10-11) I am encouraging you to be honest with yourself and those closest to you. No need to hide! I love that whether or not we are honest with God, He already knows everything--so you might as well be honest to and with Him about yourself and where you stand. Being honest with God, Jesus, The Holy Spirit helps you be honest in your earthly relationships. Honesty, truly, is a critical virtue to have and exercise daily!

PS: No one can "make" you be an honest person, or help you be honest with yourself... that's all on you!! Give honesty all you have!
