Drained...

It happens gradually... and you may not even see it coming. Sometimes it's because of choices you made... other times it's because of the circumstances that you find yourself in. Whatever the case, being drained is a challenge! Drained in this context means: "To fatigue or spend emotionally or physically; deprive of strength or vitality; worn out; exhausted." How do you recoup when you are (or feel) completely drained? What is your "go to" for replenishment? How often do you realize that you are drained before you completely crash? It's so easy to be on the go constantly that you wear yourself out at a faster rate than you intend to. I've written about having BALANCE... the importance and necessity of balance. Are you finding ways to replenish yourself as you balance things (or juggle them) from day to day?

You may be someone who is always giving and refreshing others that sometimes you get to a place of emptiness... and have nothing more to give. Truth is, he/she who refreshes others will himself be refreshed: "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed." (Proverbs 11:25) BUT, you have to be intentional about it so that you can continue to pour out into others. Who is refreshing you? Who is pouring into your life?

My main source is Jesus... when I hit rock bottom... OR sometimes before (when I use wisdom) I go to the creator of my being because His Word is true in that: "The Lord will sustain, refresh, and strengthen him on his bed of languishing;" (Psalm 41:3a); "He restores my soul;" (Psalm 23:3); "For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul." (Jeremiah 31:25). Other additional refreshing verses include: Psalm 19:7; Isaiah 40:28-31 and Psalm 119:114.

It is very important to take time out to be replenished periodically so that you won't end up overwhelmingly drained. If you need to, learn to speak out when you see things are getting out of hand and you know that you will become completely wiped out, drained if you keep going at the rate you are going. Learn to share the burdens or issues or challenges or assignments... you don't always have to do everything on your own. You are not an island so don't operate like an island :) Remember, when you are drained, you won't be able to do all that you want to do or achieve--or help anyone else. Be refreshed today and take time out to recoup!
