You have a plan. It's a good plan. You have a dream, it's a great dream. You have a strategy to follow and it's almost full proof... right? Hmmm... that's in a perfect world. As I mentioned before, there is no perfect world. In the world we live in, you sometimes get sidetracked. If you are like me, or just human :), life just creeps up on you and you don't even realize that you are being sidetracked until you are completely sidetracked. Thankfully, and hopefully, you realize that you have been sidetracked and decide to get back on track... Don't be too frustrated at yourself or whatever has caused you to be sidetracked. Face it, remove it and move on. Sometimes you may just need to make some adjustments so that you can get back on track. Whatever causes you to be sidetracked, nip it in the bud before it gets too far. In some cases, this may require continuous practice... like a daily habit.
Some 'sidetracked' definitions to consider: cause (someone) to be distracted from an immediate or important issue."he does not let himself get sidetracked by fads and trends"; to divert from a main issue or course: "I was sidetracked from my work by an unexpected visitor"; to delay or block the progress of deliberately: "a bill that would sidetrack food irradiation in this country" (Alixis Beck). Whether it is your own doing, other people, or the system that sidetracks you... realize when you are sidetracked so that you can get back on course.
When you get sidetracked and try to do too many things, you often find yourself becoming a 'jack of all trades and a master of none.' It's important to be focused and streamline what you can do; what you should do; and what's best to be done. What is your mission and purpose? Remember why you started along the path that you are going. Don't give up and write off what you are aiming for... your dream... just think: What do you need to do to get back on track? Time management, motivation, saying no to this or that? Remember your mission... know your season and the reason for your mission.
Things change and you get sidetracked... then when you realize it, you get back on track... I agree that it's easier said than done. I'm living proof that it's a challenge. Sometimes I get sidetracked, maybe more often than I should be, but I always "come to myself" and find a way to get back on track. Since you know that you will get sidetracked... one way or the other, put in place support systems to help you along the way. Remember the guard rails you see along the road and the line markers that help you stay on the road and in your lane.... well, those are types of support systems you can put in place for your life. Think about it... what are some guard rails that you need to prevent you from being sidetracked in your life?
Today, be encouraged and get back on track! No need to stay sidetracked :) You can do it!
