Embrace where you are!

Sometimes we find ourselves in a place or season where we least expected we would be. It could be a relationship, job, company, city, country, church, etc. When you think about it too much, and things are not going as you planned, hoped and envisioned, the tendency is to constantly look for a way out. That should not be how you handle it. I encourage you to embrace where you are! To embrace means: "to accept (something or someone) readily or gladly; to use (an opportunity) eagerly." It's easier said than done, but it is possible if you are willing!

However you landed where you are and the situation you find yourself in, God knew ahead of time. Maybe you are in that relationship, job, company, organization, location, etc. because of a choice (or choices) you made along the way, or decisions made by other people on your behalf or due to limitations. Whether you are where you are of your own accord or just "fell into it" and it is not detrimental to your life--embrace it. You truly have what it takes to make the most of this 'now moment' or situation. Look around you for more than what is right in front of you. Look for opportunities of growth and ways to make the most of it--life's experiences are great teachers and you have lots to learn.

No need to focus on the nearest (possible) exit! Instead, focus on what you can do where you are with what life has set before you. Remember, the grass is not necessarily greener on the other side... though it looks that way from your vantage point. Difficult or challenging situations may be more bearable when you start putting the effort to address the changes that need to be made. So, embrace where you are. Many have traveled similar roads and made it through successfully because they embraced where they were and moved forward. Embrace with grace and patience. Assess things and look more for the positive, than continuously focusing only on the negative--or impossible. Whatever your decision, use wisdom and have patience. Embrace where you are today!

You may be familiar with the Serenity Prayer:

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen." --Reinhold Niebuhr

This reminds me to embrace where I am!
