When you wake up, do you plan how you will use your time? Or just let the day unfold and go with the flow? Have you realized just how much time you waste each day--if ever you reflect on what you did and could have done? Your time is valuable and should be apportioned so that you are making the most of it. What are some of the things you find yourself doing that an hour (or hours) later you cannot account for those hours? Since you cannot get time back, sometimes you end up putting yourself (and others) under pressure because you let things slip when you were "wasting the time" you had. You may even compromise on doing other things well because the time is gone--never to return.
Fortunately, we all get 24 hours a day and are given the sole responsibility to use our time as we wish. Don't blame other people for wasting your time because you have choices! If your time is valuable, then putting things into perspective may help you manage the hours better. It is not about being a workaholic or extremist that you need to be "busy doing something all the time" but more about making the most of your valuable time. As we all know, time, once lost can never be retrieved again. There is no "do-over" with time.
Procrastination is the thief of time and as a result, a significant time waster! Overthinking and over-planning are time wasters. Lack of planning is a time waster because sometimes you end up having to "redo" some things that if only you had planned for them accordingly, that wouldn't waste your valuable time--which in turn takes away from other things. Worrying and being anxious without doing anything about a situation you are in is another waste of time.
Even in walking with Jesus the Bible reminds us to: "Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil. Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is." Ephesians 5:15-17 (AMPC)
Resting is NOT a waste of time because you need restoration each day. Working out is NOT a waste of time because you need to be good to your body! Everything within reason and moderation. Create the balance you need for your valuable time and eliminate time wasters. You don't want to be blaming yourself (or others) because of goals and dreams you don't achieve only because your valuable time was misused... Get it together for your own sake :).
