Everyday you wake up is a miracle and it comes with a gift. Today is a gift you have been given to do with as you desire. Whatever time you wake up, the gift is available from midnight. You have 24 hours just like everyone else. What will you use your gift for today? How will you unwrap the gift and use each hour? Are you a planner that every hour you are awake is accounted for? Or will you let time guide your day and just take things as they come? What will be the best use of your gift today?
Today is a gift that will only last for a specified amount of time and once that time is up, today will be over. Remember, what you do with today may affect/impact tomorrow. However, you don't need to "worry" about tomorrow--today. As the day unfolds, what will your attitude be like--or has it been like? How will (or have) you reacted (or responded) to any unexpected news received or situations encountered? What difference (positive impact) will you make on anyone--or have had on at least one person?
Are you sharing your gift (hours) or spending the day alone? Sharing can be very rewarding. Remember, when you give of anything, in this case time, "Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” (Luke 6:38) On the other hand, sometimes we need "solo" days in which you spend time being reflective and introspective so that you become more self-aware. I encourage you to take time out every once in a while to increase your self-awareness because the better you know yourself, the easier it becomes to be the best you.
So, today, enjoy your gift of the present. Forget the past and don't worry about tomorrow. Today is a gift!
