Seed time and harvest. Each day you have the opportunity (privilege) to plant seeds of your choice. Sometimes we go through life--merely existing/living without a second thought and not intentionally planting seeds of what we really want (or deserve) to harvest. However, as life would have it, some seeds are planted without you even "thinking" about it. One thing is guaranteed, you reap what you sow. "Make no mistake about this: You can never make a fool out of God. Whatever you plant is what you'll harvest." (Galatians 6:7)
Here are a few examples that came to mind this morning. Seeds of "hope and encouragement" are planted just by the words you speak to those around you. On the other hand, seed of "destruction and discord," also by the words you speak to people in your circles. This also includes silence--that's still speaking.... Random thought: remember those times you choose to be "silent" and not participate or say anything to "teach" them a lesson... who is really feeling the "pinch" or effects of your silence? Anyway... back to the examples... Seeds of "joy and thanksgiving" by the actions you do--just because, even when you are not asked or 'required' to do. Yet again, seeds of "fear" are also caused by the actions you do (or don't do). Are you intentionally instilling fear in the lives of those around you?
Each day you have the choice to knowingly "plant" life-giving and life-changing seeds for in due course (season), you will reap the harvest... whatever that looks like as a result. What vision do you have for the field God has set before you? Are you getting the land and all the equipment (your mind, mouth, attitude, etc.) ready to plant the seeds? Are you willing to do the work it takes to plant, care and then harvest? It's not just a seed... it's an opportunity and a privilege to live out your God-given assignment, intentionally and the process of learning that goes with it. So... what seeds have you been planting lately... are you ready for that harvest? Will you be pleased or disappointed with the outcome? Think about the seeds you have and how (when and why) you want to plant them? What is the goal?
With careful thought, consider planting life-giving seeds and not destructive seeds. Both can be planted... but should not be mixed if you hope for positive and rewarding outcomes in your life. "You shall not sow your vineyard with two kinds of seed, or all the produce of the seed which you have sown and the increase of the vineyard will become defiled." (Deuteronomy 22:9)
Happy planting!
