Authenticity...

Authenticity! The quality of being authentic. To me, the ability of being the real you to everyone; or all the people that meet you get to know the real you--without any facades. According to the Merriam Webster definition, authentic is "true to one's own personality, spirit, or character." Simply put, being genuine.

"As a man thinketh, so is he." (Proverbs 23:7) What are you thinking about yourself, who you are and who God sees you as? Who did God create you to be? What is your assignment?

"...for whatsoever a man soweth, that he shall also reap." (Galatians 6:7b) What are you sowing each day? What do you hope to reap at the end of each day, week, month or year? Let's get basic... what do you hope to reap this morning, afternoon or evening? What have you sown in order to be able to reap those things or that one thing? What are you planning or thinking you will sow? Who will you be today? Another character from your life's story... or... the genuine YOU?

As a man thinketh, so is he--who are you when you are alone at home? Who are you when people (anyone) is around you? Are you your genuine, authentic self? What seeds are you sowing--first in your heart and mind about yourself; and also about others. What does being authentic look like to you? Do you really know who you are? Do people around, especially those that matter the most, really know who you are? Your hopes, dreams and disappointments? Not that you need to be perfect... only God is perfect... Are you real and genuine with yourself? When you look in the mirror of your life, what do you see? Consistency? Authenticity? Quality? Joy? Peace? Love? Just to randomly name a few... It takes a lifetime to discover ALL of you. So don't feel rushed like you need to know everything.

The purpose of today's thought and questions is for self-reflection, I've been thinking about me... and how I really want each day to matter... by sowing things with a goal of what I want to achieve and not just existing or randomly living and hoping for the best. I want to do better each day... getting closer and closer to who God created me to be.

Let each day be filled with your authenticity. Be genuine in your conversations and interactions with others--especially those that matter to you the most. We are often least genuine with loved ones because we just expect them to know you... yet we don't always completely share all of ourselves... or our natural selves with them, like we do with complete strangers. Funny thing is... we expect others, especially our loved ones, to be authentic with us... The irony... Let each day matter and be filled with authenticity!
