A child loves unconditionally when they are born--they don't know to do otherwise. As children grow, some have a simple tendency to love and embrace anyone that comes their way. Their innocence is untarnished/corrupted by anything because they are created with God's pure heart and intent (or tendency) to love.
Unfortunately, sometimes we teach children differences--fill in the blank--it's a laundry list not worth repeating. NOTE: There are not the "good" differences between write and wrong--to be honest, we are all born with the ability to know what's right and wrong, we just learn more as we grow.
The sad part is when children are robbed of their ability (natural tendency) to love unconditionally--because their innocence gets tarnished by adult "opinions or beliefs". Children often listen to the words, conversations or simply follow the examples of parents, siblings and community--basically, the society in which they are growing up in. If we could all go back in time and treat each other with the innocence of a child, imagine how rich our relationships would be. Imagine the freedom we would have with each other and within ourselves. We would be truly living in LOVE--untainted as God intended. We would lay down our lives for each other because of love, just like Jesus did.
In innocence, we would forgive each other more quickly and not keep grudges. We would not hold on to each other's mistakes that break relationships. In innocence we would always want what's best for one another. I can only imagine God smiling at His creation and saying, as HE said in Genesis, "this is good" because the earth will be filled with innocent and unconditional love. Yes, that's a far-fetched dream and my seem unrealistic in this day and age, or you may think it's simply unattainable. BUT... IMAGINE... if you and I--just the two of us--expressed that genuine love with a child's innocent heart... What would our families, churches, workplaces, and local communities or neighborhoods look like? Ponder that thought...
Lately, I've been getting to know Princess Zee and she has been touching my heart in a special way even though we have only met virtually and communicate via text mostly--with the occasional call. Her sister, Sela, is sweet too but I haven't had much time to get to know her personally--in the future, I will. I have been around my sister's children and they just shower me with their innocent love and it warms my heart as they call me, Auntie Charlotte. My brother's kids just make me smile. HUGS from these precious children makes your heart melt with joy and brings a smile that lasts... All these children have such genuine love, it's contagious. All you can do is love them...
Innocence... to love with the heart of a child... and to be loved with such innocence... simply beautiful. May you see others through the eyes and attitude of a child. BE JOYFUL and LOVING always!
